Who is
Susie ?

Grandma Susie Washington is the namesake and cherished inspiration for Susie’s Wagon.

Raised in a farming community in the Jim Crow south she hailed from (very) humble beginnings. Her encouraging and uplifting nature was the perfect catalyst to becoming a beloved educator whose commitment and enthusiasm helped to manifest the dreams of those around her. When her Grandson Elliot (now SW Founder) took a programming course in high school, she bought him his first brand new computer. Now the CEO of his own tech agency, Elliot credits that computer as both the foundation of his career and the primary inspiration for the laptops that Susie’s Wagon gifts to students every year.

While owning a little red wagon was an unfulfilled childhood dream for Grandma Susie, she would be so happy today knowing that her Wagon transports hope and possibility to young people with backgrounds like hers all over the country.
